If you have a wound or an ulcer that is long term, persistent or non-healing, we encourage you to make an appointment to visit our wound care team. You do not need a referral from your doctor to visit the Wound Healing Service. Initial, one-hour consultations cost:
Ongoing consultations cost:
During the initial consultation, you will be asked about the history of your wound, past and current illnesses and medications, your lifestyle and wellbeing. Your wound will be assessed and blood tests, diagnostic tests, or vascular assessments may be performed to develop your individualised plan of care. Following the initial consultation, you will receive a thorough explanation of your diagnosis and different treatment options. You will be given the opportunity to be actively involved in planning your ongoing care. We will usually recommend that you continue to visit us on a regular basis by appointment to monitor and support you while your wound is improving. Your patient information will remain confidential and you will be treated with dignity and respect at all times. Patients may be asked to provide basic and confidential data to advance the ongoing research of chronic wounds. This participation is entirely optional and will not affect the quality or duration of the treatment provided. |
